tHE Church HISTORY

1

The arrival of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost empowered the apostles to preach the gospel, leading to the conversion of many, marking the start of the church

2

Prophecy fullfilled:Jesus's prophecy in Luke 24:47, that repentance and forgiveness of sins would be preached in his name starting in Jerusalem, was fulfilled.

3

The church was established in Jerusalem, and it was from there that the message of Christ spread to other regions, such as Samaria, Asia Minor, and eventually Rome.

4

While the Bible doesn't use the term "first church" directly, it describes the early believers in Jerusalem as the foundation of the church. We are the Church.

5

The early Christians in Jerusalem, mostly Jewish converts, continued their Jewish practices while also embracing Jesus as the Messiah.

6

Antioch became a significant center of Christianity, where followers of Jesus were first called Christians. We follow Jesus Christ

TEACHINGS

FAITH vs WORKS

In Christian theology, the relationship between faith and works is a complex one, often described as a "both/and" rather than an "either/or" situation. While salvation is received through faith in Jesus Christ, genuine faith inevitably leads to good works as evidence of that faith. Works are not the basis for salvation, but rather a natural outflow of a transformed life.

1. Salvation is by Faith:

Good works do not earn salvation; it is a free gift from God.

The Bible teaches that salvation is a gift from God, received through faith in Jesus Christ.

This faith involves believing in Jesus' sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins and trusting in Him for salvation.

2. Faith is Manifested in Works:

While salvation is not based on works, genuine faith will always result in good works.

These works are not the cause of salvation, but rather the evidence of a transformed life and a living faith.

James 2:17 states, "Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead," according to Theology of Work.

3. The Nature of Works:

Good works are actions that align with Christian principles, such as compassion, charity, kindness, and obedience to God's commandments.

These actions are a reflection of a heart transformed by God's grace.

They are not performed to earn salvation, but rather as a response to God's love and grace.

4. Reconciliation of James and Paul:

Some might see a tension between the teachings of James, who emphasizes works, and Paul, who emphasizes faith.

However, both are correct in their emphasis. Paul is speaking about justification before God, which is received by faith alone.

James is speaking about justification before men, which is seen through the evidence of good works.

Ultimately, both faith and works are necessary for a complete Christian life.

In essence, true faith in Jesus Christ will always produce good works as a natural and visible expression of that faith. While works are not the basis for salvation, they are the evidence of a transformed life and a living faith.
